[John Hawkins]( May 12   [Share](   Liberals don’t care much about working-class people, small business owners, soldiers, or taxpayers, but wow, do they love, love, love criminals. They blame society for their crimes, they fight to keep them out of jail, work to get them out of prison as soon as possible and they absolutely detest “normies” who fight back against being victimized by their beloved thugs. Liberals will NEVER forgive Kyle Rittenhouse for not allowing himself to be murdered by violent liberal rioters. Remember [Mark and Patricia McCloskey]( A BLM mob smashed down their community gate, trespassed, and screamed threats, but when they waved guns to dissuade them, they were the ones prosecuted while the members of the trespassing mob got a free pass. Recently in New York, a dirtbag named Jordan Neely who has been arrested 40+ times was screaming threats at subway passengers when three passengers restrained him, and he died in the process. Unfortunately, Neely was black and one of the good guys restraining him was white, so it’s being played up into a racial incident when it’s really just one more example of what life is like under liberal-pro-crime policies. Neely should have never been on the subway threatening people in the first place, he should have long since been in jail. The Left is fond of a wide variety of interlocking pro-crime tactics that all make life easier for criminals. Liberals deliberately hold back funding of the police (“Defund the police!”). Liberal politicians go out of their way to call for the prosecution of police officers for just doing their jobs or alternately trash the cops publicly when they’re forced to deal with violent, dangerous offenders. Sometimes, the Left simply forbids the police from using effective tactics (“[Portland police banned from using riot tool after lawsuit]( thereby making it effectively impossible for them to control mobs or safeguard the streets. Then, if the police do arrest someone, liberal prosecutors may either refuse to charge them at all ("[Portland district attorney will stop prosecuting non-violent misdemeanors tied to protests]( or bust felonies down to misdemeanors. That’s if they don’t essentially legalize certain crimes, like shoplifting (“[Why Shoplifting Is Now De Facto Legal In California]( in the first place. Even on top of all that, liberals cities will often settle cases primarily as a way to pay off political allies or hamstring the police (“[Protesters win $9 million settlement and police demilitarization pledge for 2020 tear-gassing](. Then there are the bail laws that make sure that even criminals that are caught and charged still get right back on the street where they can commit more crimes and a general hatred of the police whipped up by the Left. All of this leads to a situation where the often heavily undermanned police essentially start just going through the motions. Why would they do anything else when the city is going to back criminals over them in any conflict and even if they arrest someone, they’ll be back on the street in no time if they’re prosecuted at all? This is the “Ferguson Effect” in action. “[The Ferguson Effect]( is the idea that crime spikes as cops pull back from doing their jobs in hostile areas. Of course, it’s even worse than that. As criminals realize they’re unlikely to be caught and will likely get a break from the Left even if they do, crime picks up and the boldest criminals realize they can get away with just about anything. Like this: Eventually, the public becomes demoralized and stops reporting crimes because… why bother? The police aren’t going to get there in time to do anything, they aren’t likely to arrest the criminals and the criminals aren’t likely to be prosecuted even if they are caught. Conservatives tend to often be particularly bothered by these policies not only because they lead to regular people being victimized and getting hurt, but because it was obvious from the very beginning that was what was going to happen. Anyone with half a brain knew exactly how all this would play out right from the start. However, the fact of the matter is that liberals have always been soft on crime, and this isn’t the first time in American history that their policies have created crime waves in cities across America. For example, the reason Rudi Giuliani originally made a name for himself was that he was personally responsible for shutting down one of these crime waves in New York City in the nineties with policies like “Stop and Frisk” and “Broken Windows” policing. Policies that have since been abandoned and not because they didn’t work (although liberals will often claim otherwise). Because this isn’t the first time (and it won’t be the last) that liberals have gone down this failed road, we basically can predict the excuses liberals will give for the crime waves they create. It looks something like this: 1) Our policies are working! 2) Maybe our policies aren’t working as well as we thought, but it’s not nearly as bad as people are saying! 3) Our policies may not be working, but that’s because crime is going up everywhere. We’re actually doing better than a lot of other places! 4) (As the grumbling gets louder about their obvious failures…) Only racists and fascists oppose our compassionate policies! Many people may think liberals will keep making excuses forever, but actually, that’s not the case. You see, these kinds of pro-crime policies have very real consequences, and you can already see them starting to play out in liberal cities across America: [Nordstrom closing two San Francisco stores over ‘deteriorating situation’ as crime in city surges]( [Seattle to pay millions to settle lawsuit over damages from George Floyd-inspired 'autonomous zone' protests]( [Judge rejects Phoenix's request to dismiss lawsuit over alleged failure to address homeless crisis]( [San Fran businesses demand tax refunds over neighborhood crime, cleanliness problems]( [Whole Foods closes flagship San Francisco store due to crime just one year after opening]( [Walmart shuts down four stores in crime-ridden Dem-led Chicago, DailyMail.com lists all the big box shops - from Macy's to Target - which have closed due to millions in losses from rampant theft]( Lawsuits, stores shutting down and angry voters are certainly a problem, but the number of people voting with their feet is an even bigger one. It is no secret that there has been a massive outflow of taxpayers and businesses from places like California and New York. Were the COVID policies in those places part of that? Absolutely. High tax rates? Certainly, but crime played a significant role as well. See if anything strikes you about [the three states with the biggest outflow of people in 2022]( If you listen to liberals, those states above are the best places to live in America and the worst? That would be Florida and Texas. But, where are those people from liberal states moving to of late? Of course, it’s not just people fleeing those crime-ridden states for conservative havens, it’s TAX DOLLARS. Liberals may be foolish, struggle to understand human nature, and lack basic common sense, but even they don’t want to step in human feces walking down the street, get mugged on the subway, or worry about whether their kids are going to be safe playing “drag queens and social activists” in the front yard. If they can afford gated communities and personal security, they’ll choose being looked at as “compassionate and sensitive” to other liberals over doing anything about crime, but when it impacts their lives? That is a totally different ballgame. That’s when they’ll break out the old, “everyone agrees that something needs to be done” chestnut and demand a crackdown on crime. If the politicians in office still won’t move, they’ll find a compassionate excuse to vote in someone who will do something about it. Granted, they may not be desperate enough to vote for a Republican, but a more moderate Democrat who is serious about building up the police and squashing crime? Absolutely. Unfortunately, it takes time – usually years and years – for this cycle to play out and in the interim, some good people will get hurt. Of course, there are also a lot of liberals who voted for soft-on-crime policies over and over who will also get hurt, but let’s face it, they’re getting what they voted for, so you shouldn’t feel too sorry for them. It may take them a few years to figure out things conservative teenagers could have told them about crime from the beginning, but they will eventually get there. --------------------------------------------------------------- [Upgrade to paid]( [Share]( [Leave a comment]( [101 Things All Young Adults Should Know](   [Like]( [Comment]( [Restack](   © 2023 John Hawkins 548 Market Street PMB 72296, San Francisco, CA 94104 [Unsubscribe]() [Start writing]()

Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
