And while Democrats and Republicans flung crap at each other - there was a moment in the sun. Rep. Katie Porter didn’t defend Biden. Instead, she offered a rather epic five-minute rant/proposal to eliminate influence peddling and corruption in Washington and to stop the revolving door between Congress and corporate lobbying positions. A few facts she offered: - 495 former members of Congress work for lobbying firms - 467 members take Corporate PAC money. - 78 Members of Congress violated the STOCK Act last Congress. Porter… is heading out the door. She tried running for Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat, but lost to the ever-vile Adam Schiff for the spot. She’s clearly angry about the role of special interests in that primary loss. But it was a hell of a speech. It gave me some hope.
