[Homed] Hi {NAME}, I don’t often get to visit the properties I write about in person. I’m in Wellington, and the grand houses, and first-time buyer beauties I find can be all over the country. So, I jumped at the chance to visit the historic home at 24 Orchard Street, in Wadestown, one of the capital's dress circle suburbs when its owners, Margaret and Dan Collin, invited me for a tour. The minute I walked in I knew I was somewhere very special. Margaret and Dan’s style is as classic and refined as the home. Like entering a museum, every piece perfectly in its place, but it didn’t feel staged or stuffy like a museum - it was so lived in, comfortable and inviting. I guess more like a movie set, which seems appropriate. Built in 1931, an earlier owner had hosted [actress Vivien Leigh at the home]( while she was in Wellington performing with the Old Vic Company. It was quite a treat to sit in a marvellous Georgian walnut parlour chair, in a spectacular oak-panelled library, and look out on the harbour. I imagined Ms Leigh enjoying the same view, and falling a little bit in love with our beautiful capital. The home is for sale, and I almost wish the city could buy it and preserve it just as it is, a gem in Wellington’s architectural crown.
