But it will be hard to change the minds of down-the-wall loo roll hangers who?ve done it that way

[padding] [If you are unable to view this message correctly, click here]( [padding] [stuff header] [spacer] [padding] Hi {NAME}, The toilet has been a catalyst for more than a few household debates. Should the loo seat be up or down? Should the door be left open or closed when not in use? The toilet roll… should it hang over the top, or to the back, down the wall? It seems that science might have answered that question for us: [It’s over the top for the sake of hygiene.]( But it will be hard to change the minds of down-the-wall loo roll hangers who’ve done it that way their whole lives. I’m always curious about the customs and mannerisms households develop over time, some new to the home, some inherited from previous digs. In our house, for example, every sofa and armchair has a woollen lap blanket, a cosy tip inherited from a former employer. Also, we’re strictly a seat-down family. It’s just common courtesy. And the loo roll? Well, it hangs whichever way it hangs - unlike the many folks who commented on the story we wrote about the topic, we don’t really have an opinion either way. That might make mine the odd family out. We’d love to hear some of your household debates - and how you resolve them. Drop us a line at homed@stuff.co.nz. Have a smashing weekend!
