being expected to fall about 20% . But I realised that fact, combined with current high interest rat

[padding] [If you are unable to view this message correctly, click here]( [padding] [stuff header] [spacer] [padding] Hi {NAME}, Here’s a list of the things my dog has chewed - and shredded - in the last 24 hours: a cane magazine basket, pieces of flax brought in from the garden, a plastic milk bottle stolen from the recycling, a $60 foam roller, the corner of my once-treasured plant shelf. I thought about musing on the state of the housing market this week, after business editor Susan Edmunds [wrote this piece about house prices]( being expected to fall about 20% (from their November 2021 peak). But I realised that fact, combined with current high interest rates and the cost of living crisis, feels a bit bleak for this time of year. So back to dogs. I have two, which I admit is excessive, but one of them is 11-years-old and no trouble to anyone. The other is the aforementioned six-month-old tearaway. I can’t imagine having 10 dogs, and a newborn baby, [as does Cassie Jefferies who I spoke to this week.]( But she loves her lifestyle. And I get it. I’m lucky enough to live in my own home (and so able to keep a dog), with mortgage payments that aren’t killing me, and in truth my dogs do actually bring me a lot of joy. They get me outside twice a day, rain or shine. And they're at least 100% more pleased to see me in the mornings than either of my teenage children. I think I might just hang a Christmas stocking for the puppy after all. Have a great weekend!
