[padding] [If you are unable to view this message correctly, click here]( [padding] [stuff header] [spacer] [padding] Hi {NAME}, It was disconcerting to see the global colour authority Pantone name Very Peri, an insipid shade of bluish-purple, the colour of 2022. Talk about damning the year before it’s even begun. Purple is one of those colours that you either love - like teenagers love BTS and TikTok - or loathe - the way Boomers feel about those two. There are no half measures. It’s that way with decor too: add a splash of purple and if you’re not careful it’ll take over the room. I have to give Pantone credit for even trying to pin down something as subjective and personal as colour, however. There must be hours of nail-biting, cross-referencing and debate before they hoist their colour sail for the coming year. What if no one rallies to it? What if it’s just hanging there, fluttering in the wind as trendsetters drift off towards other, more satisfying hues? They needn’t worry too much, as even the most reviled colours picked by Pantone will have their moment - we mocked 2021’s garish sunflower yellow and concrete grey choices, but concrete was everywhere in decor, and Instagram was packed with sunflower yellow front doors and upcycled vintage furniture. Perhaps I’m premature in picking on pernicious purple? Perhaps this prince of colours will rise to the top next year? Who can say? Have a lovely weekend!
