Hi everyone, Sadly I’m not blessed with a home full of heirlooms, but the few I do have, I treasure, and have to date fended off attempts from siblings to relocate them to their homes. We don’t all feel connected to objects in our home, but I for one am all for filling my space with things, new, old and in between, that give visitors a pretty clear picture about the people who live in it. But where to find these things? Well the new is easy enough to come by, in fact I suffer from trying to pass by these without taking them home. It’s the old that’s trickier. Trade Me was once a goldmine for the vintage, the retro and the antique but nowadays competition is fierce and sellers’ expectations skyhigh. Good news though, I have some words of wisdom to share - check out Erena Te Paa’s secrets on making the most of Trade Me below. This week, I also have tips on what to keep an eye out for when shopping secondhand (as well as what to avoid), some beautiful homes which blend old with new, and more. Oh, and be sure to check out Neighbourly’s Resene Upcycling Awards. The awards are your chance to show how you’ve turned trash into treasure or simply given something a new purpose.
