President Biden once again called for cooling down the heated political climate in America following the assassination attempt on former President Trump. However, his speech at the 115th NAACP National Convention in Las Vegas quickly turned into a critique of Trump's presidency. "Just a few days after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, we're grateful he's not seriously injured. We continue to pray for him and his family," Biden began, emphasizing the need for a national conversation about political violence. "It's time to lower the temperature and condemn violence in any form," he reiterated, recalling his previous calls for unity and peaceful discourse. Biden stressed the importance of speaking out against violence: "We have to say with one voice that violence is not the answer. That's what we should rally around as a nation. That's the unity I'm talking about. Few organizations know that better than the NAACP." Despite these calls for unity, Biden was quick to go back to business as usual. "Just because we should lower the temperature doesn't mean we should stop telling the truth," Biden asserted before launching into a critique of Trump's policies and their impact on Black America. He highlighted the tax cuts for the wealthy and the increasing federal debt as major failings of Trump's administration, questioning Trump's motives: "What in the hell is the matter with this man?
