He had been on a smooth confirmation track, but the new allegations have roiled that process. All 10 Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee have [called for a planned Thursday vote on Kavanaugh's nomination to be postponed]( while the FBI investigates allegations, while Republican senators have expressed concern over [the California woman's private-turned-public allegation]( that a drunken Kavanaugh groped her and tried to take off her clothes at a party when they were teenagers.
