First, Barrio's St. Paul location shuttered with no notice on social media. Instead, a sign taped to the front door of the building it inhabited in Lowertown said its final night of business was Sept. 6. The tequila-focused restaurant and bar will still have a presence in downtown Minneapolis, Edina and at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport's Terminal 2. Meanwhile, an eviction notice for the northeast Minneapolis location of Vellee forced its owners to shutter two other locations — one in the downtown skyway and an extended pop-up in Brooklyn Park. Vellee owner William Xiong hopes to reopen the restaurants. He's started a crowdfunding campaign to raise $90,000 and pay back rent in order to do so. The franchise revealed the moniker this morning, months after the team won the league's inaugural championship. Every PWHL team played without a nickname and mascot this year, instead adopting colors and playing under the name of the state or city where each is located. Mary Schwalm/Associated Press I believe a congratulations is in order. Back in May, we asked readers to name Minnesota's new pro hockey team. Ron Lubrant came right out of the gate with Minnesota Frost. He also suggested Tundra, Walleyes, Ice Brigade and the one of the most clever entries in our no-prize contest: "Minnesota Over Derrs." Other readers chimed in and said the team should be called the Northern Lights, Lady Slippers or the Marauders. We at the Minnesota Star Tribune also offered up our own list of potential nicknames, including: Superior, Agates, Valkyries, Whitecaps and Purple Reign. Alas, we were wrong and Lubrant was right. But there's no time to dwell on what could have been. Instead, let's set our sights on a second consecutive championship. The leaves are about to change and the temperature is steadily dipping as the sun sets earlier and earlier. You know what that means: Sweaters! Hot toddies! Cozy blankets! And in the midst of all that, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is hawking its bird-watching operation in Duluth. (See what I did there?) Better start planning those autumnal trips to the North Shore now. Those hotels, Airbnbs and motels are gonna book up quick. P.S. Here's [the story the DNR references in the Instagram post above](.
