I am obsessed with Gov. Tim Walz's reaction to talk of him as a potential vice presidential nominee: "I guess that’s fine." 🤷🏽 ♂️ On to the news 📢 [Eder Campuzano] By Eder Campuzano TODAY’S TOP STORIES - [Children's Minnesota adding more clinic services in Twin Cities suburbs]( - [With Biden out, Dean Phillips still wants more presidential competition for Democrats]( - [Anoka-Hennepin school board mulls rewrite of gender-inclusion policy]( - [Best Buy introduces 'spokeshologram' and a touch of magenta in new branding campaign]( - [Sheila E. talks about Paisley Park dust-up and her two new albums](   This Minneapolis neighborhood has seen better days. Local business owners are calling for redevelopment. Ayrton Breckenridge/Star Tribune A row of buildings in Minneapolis' Cedar-Riverside neighborhood has sat vacant for more than a year. And business owners are getting anxious. "The block is under such disrepair," said William Murray, who owns the Corner Bar across the street from Bullwinkle's Saloon on Washington Avenue S. The Seven Corners block has seen better days. College students used to flock to India Palace, Love Power Church and Bullwinkle's. But the city of Minneapolis condemned the mixed-use development of apartments and retail last year after the property owner failed to maintain the buildings and pay the utility bills. Now, neighbors are pushing for redevelopment in the area as graffiti-marked storefronts and condemned buildings push potential patrons away. "It poses a safety hazard," Murray said. "In the three or four years that this block was really hampering my business, I had to start closing earlier, and I have never really gotten my late-night crowd back." Delta called off 67 flights at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport by 7 a.m. today as scores of flights ran behind schedule. Some Minnesota students still don't have financial aid offers.]( ON THIS DAY IN 1969 William Seaman/Star Tribune Richard Mayes (left) and Joe Arrington spent years trying to secure a liquor license. And in the summer of 1969, they succeeded when the man who owned 9th Street Liquors in Minneapolis retired and sold the business to them and Don Battles. The three became the first Black businessmen granted an off-sale liquor license in the state of Minnesota, the Star Tribune reported at the time. Along with Battles, they formed a corporation called Bamsoul Enterprises — taking the first letter of their last names and adding "soul" to it. This photo was included in the July 23, 1969, edition of the paper with the story. Patrick Forslund caught this view of the final act from this year's inaugural Yacht Club Music Festival in St. Paul over the weekend, which was headlined by a trio that would make any '90s kid blush.
