Amy Klobuchar Glenn Stubbe/Star Tribune Minnesota Republicans are pinning their hopes on a political pugilist with multiple housing evictions over the last two years and a history of using campaign funds on personal shopping trips, strip clubs and hotels. Royce White, who briefly played for the Sacramento Kings in the 2010s, handily won the state GOP's endorsement to run for U.S. Senate during the party's convention earlier this month. But that doesn't mean he automatically gets to take on Sen. Amy Klobuchar. First, the 33-year-old White, who is Black, must win the Republican primary in August. While White says his past makes him relatable to voters — he defends antisemitic and other slurs he's made in the past by saying "the Black community is a very vulgar community culturally" — some Republicans say his overwhelming victory at the convention was the result of low turnout and a flawed nominating process. He won the nomination with two-thirds of the vote on the first ballot. Reporter Sydney Kashiwagi has the full story [here](. â

â the minnesota goodbye What do you call a group of more than a dozen journalists riding single file through downtown Minneapolis en route to Minnehaha Falls? I don't know the answer myself, but just take a gander at this cadre of captivating writers, editors, designers and data crunchers as they prepared for a pleasant midweek outing to Sea Salt Eatery. I only swallowed two bugs on my way there! Not pictured: Minneapolis reporter Susan Du, the talent behind the lens.
