Read time: 1 min, 19 sec This morning I woke up triggered. My buddy Tim texted me at 2am last night. (i love you Tim... but I gotta roast you a bit here) Anyways, here's what he texted me: “Hey dude I just came across this video on Instagram. This dude's making $1M/month selling products he doesn't even own through the TikTok shop. Do you think it's legit?" Oh boy, here we go again… 🙄 Ladies and gentleman... I present you: The next get-rich-quick business trend! In 2017, it was dropshipping. In 2020, it was newsletters. In 2023, it was AI. And in 2024 it's.... the Tiktok shop. Man... this sh*t is like clockwork. Every year, there's a shiny new business idea trend that takes over the zeitgeist. And this one, the TikTok shop, is especially shiny. "You can make millions exploiting the TikTok algorithm and you don't even need to create your own products!" Doesn't that sound easy? Look, I'm not saying you can't make money with the Tiktok shop (i'm sure you can). But here's what you need to know: this is a gold rush idea. It won't last for very long. Why? Because this isn't a business, this is a get-rich-quick algorithm arbitrage. Everyone and their mom is gonna try it. Which will cause it to become harder and harder to work and be profitable. There is no barrier to entry, no moat. You don't even need to have your own brand! And that is precisely why it won't last long. The only people that will actually make money from this are the people teaching you how to do it. And that's exactly what happened in the actual California gold rush. Who actually got wealthy? The businesses who sold the shovels. Levi Strauss (Levi's- the jeans!) made a fortune in the California gold rush, without ever panning for gold. Why? Because he solved a real problem. With a real brand. With a real business. There is no other way. If you're actually serious about this sh*t... If you actually want to quit your FT job. If you actually want to get wealthy over the long term. You must focus on solving real problems for real customers. If you do this, then you'll create business that generates revenue for years to come. If you don't, then you'll just be another sucker inside of someone else's scheme. Ok so now you might be wondering... How do I find problems worth solving? How do I find a $1M business idea? How will I know if this is something that will actually work? Fortunately, this is the easy part. And to prove this to you I'm going to find a $1M business idea LIVE with you this Wednesday.
