Read this in 1 min, 49 sec I was 24 years old when I met my first entrepreneur. (in the flesh) Sure, I'd watched movies about founders and consumed entrepreneurship content. But I'd never actually met someone who started a successful business. And if I'm being honest... that stopped me from getting started for years. Why? I didn't believe I was actually capable of starting my own business - I didn't believe it was even real. Well... that all changed one day... When I got a new roommate, named Spyq. (very strange name I know, but it's pronounced "Spike") –– When Spyq moved into my apartment, I immediately noticed he was… different. I had a 9-5. He slept in every morning. I partied all weekend. He built stuff all weekend. And when we watched Netflix together, he always had his laptop open, working on something... So one day I just decided to ask him. Hey Spyq… What are you always working on? To my surprise he said, Well… I’m building my business! We got to talking and he showed me everything. His website His customers His analytics I was blown away. Wow… can I ask… How much do you make? He pulled up his revenue dashboard and started showing me everything. How much he made today. How much he spent this week. How much profit he's making. He was so transparent about everything... And while he was sharing this with me I noticed something. He seemed to LOVE it. He was so passionate about it. He had a huge grin on his face throughout our entire conversation. He went over his stuff for hours, and I found it fascinating. –– I didn't know much at the time. But after this conversation, I knew I wanted one thing. I wanted that. I wanted what Spyq had. For me, that was the moment when everything changed. Finally, starting a business felt real. But then, I had a sinking feeling in my chest. Here was a guy, my same age, who graduated the same year as me... Who instead of going into a 9-5 and doing what everyone else was doing... Just said f*ck it, and decided to build a business. Working his a** off, building sh*t he was genuinely interested in. And living life without regrets. I looked at myself and thought… There is no excuse that I can't do this too. –– A few weeks later, I'd caught the bug. I vowed that I would eventually start my own business and get out of the corporate rat race. I started coding, working on business ideas, and asking Spyq a lot of questions. And the rest was history. For me, that was a big turning point. When I saw real numbers and real data. When I saw a real, successful business, started by someone just like me. Right in front of me. It finally felt... real. –– That feeling... that is why I built Starter Story. So YOU can get real numbers, real data, and real stories behind businesses built by regular people. So you can surround yourself with thousands of people just like you. And make this whole thing feel real. Because I believe that made all the difference. If you're serious about building something, you should join my [free workshop on Thursday.]( I’ll show you a bunch of stuff behind the scenes of my business - just like Spyq did for me. And, I'll show you how to reverse engineer a $1M business in 7 days. [You don’t have to do it alone.]( See you Thursday? – Pat p.s. Spyq and I became great friends over the years and both run our own successful businesses. this is me and Spyq at the US Open last year.
