Dear Stage 32 Creative Army, I am writing you today to express Stage 32’s passionate support for the Writers Guild of America (WGA) in their ongoing strike. We are proud to have several members of the Stage 32 team who are also members of the WGA, DGA, and SAG-AFTRA. As such, we fully understand the challenges that all creatives face in the industry and are committed to supporting them in every way possible. This means we also understand firsthand the struggles that creatives face in getting paid fairly and securing their rights for their work. That is why we stand with the WGA in their fight for fair compensation, better working conditions, and greater recognition for the vital role that writers play in the creative process. It is deeply concerning that the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) is not sharing the wealth and undermining the importance of writers in the creative process. The writers are the lifeblood of any production, and undervaluing their efforts and passion is simply unacceptable. The industry must recognize that the success of any project is dependent on the quality of the writing. Writers must be respected and compensated fairly for their contributions. At Stage 32, we believe that we are all in this together. Support and collaboration are essential in achieving our shared goals of greater fairness and equity in the industry worldwide. We must send a message that no creative pursuit is disposable. We stand with the WGA because we understand that their fight is our fight. As you know, democratizing the entertainment industry is our mission. No matter where you are in the world, no matter what your craft within the business, this battle impacts us all. We cannot and will not have doors slammed in our faces. This is a fight for respect, for protecting the value of our work, and for not allowing Wall Street influenced companies to bully and dismiss the artists they richly (pun intended) depend upon for profits. We urge our community to stand with us and support the WGA in their fight for fair compensation, better working conditions, and greater recognition. By standing together as the largest, expansive, and most diverse community in the entertainment industry, we can achieve great things and create a better, more equitable business for all creatives. Thank you in advance for your support in and for being such a valuable member of the Stage 32 community.
