Tripadvisor relaunches their ad platform, how to optimize your App Store product page, and more. May 16, 2022 [Read in browser]( [logo] [sponsor]( Hey, it’s Monday. And it seems everyone’s got the travel bug… including advertisers. The Crew decided to go along with the theme and put together a list of underrated places in our countries we think are worth visiting. Details in today’s Poolside section. Please fasten that seat belt tight around your hips… It’s time to settle into today’s news. ADVERTISING Tripadvisor launches “new and improved” ad platform [article-image] Talk about timing… What’s going on: The traveling platform [launched Ad Express](—formerly Media Manager—in the hopes of streamlining the advertising process on their self-service ad platform. The new features give advertisers tools like: - A creative library, letting you reuse previously uploaded images without waiting for approval. - 20+ supported currencies. - Multi-user accounts. Agencies and businesses can now allow multiple users to access the same account. Why we care: About 70% of US consumers alone are planning to travel in the next 12 months. And Tripadvisor is huge. It’s available in 43 markets and 22 languages, and they claim they’re reaching almost 500 million travelers worldwide. Their updated ad platform could be a valuable tool in your marketing kit. And while we’re on the topic of “worldwide”... GOOGLE How many users can’t read your website content? Getting organic traffic from foreign language queries? Then you’ll appreciate this… Bridging the language gap: [Google Search Console’s new filter]( shows you which foreign language searches landed on your website—and how many users are struggling to read the content. Why we care: This is valuable data. With the additional filter you can see if Google finds your content relevant enough to translate it and drive traffic from foreign queries. Moreover, you gain insight into how many users are reading Google-translated content. Very useful if you’re targeting foreign countries or languages. [Join elite affiliates and marketers at AW Summit 2022!]( MARKETING How to optimize your App Store product page [article-image] Trying to get more downloads by testing different keywords? Great! … But that’s not enough. Yes, keywords can bring traffic to your app. But you convert that traffic with the story you tell. And a huge part of that story is the screenshot you feature on the app’s product page. That’s why [Ariel from Appfigures suggests an A/B test process]( for optimizing the conversion of your App Store page. Here are some guidelines to follow: - You can upload up to 3 alternatives to test, but limit it to one. Keep the test simple, because testing too many variables may hurt the validity of the test. - Get enough data to reach statistical significance. Let the test run for at least a week, and no more than 90 days. - Pause the test if downloads are tanking. What should you test? - Captions. - The screenshots order. - The color, fonts, and layout of the presentation. What metrics should you track? The logical answer would be downloads. This metric matters, but revenue is important as well. Downloads alone don’t paint a clear picture: Maybe the variation you’re testing brings in more users, but reduces your revenue. This could mean you’re attracting the wrong users. [Ariel suggests additional ideas you can test](, and he also walks you through how to set up your tests in the post. Definitely worth reading the entire thing if you’re marketing an app on the App Store! Wait… What are Web Stories? Think of them like Instagram Stories, but for the web. As of today, Web Stories can show up in: - Standard search results. - Google Images. - In place of YouTube videos in search results. - In Google News search results. In case you couldn’t tell… Google is pushing Web Stories as much as they can. Now you’re probably wondering… Do Web Stories work? Yes, they do, and here are a couple of examples: - Last year, [Andrea Volpini created a Web Story]( on the top SEO trends for 2021. It went viral, and he saw more than 3k clicks and 360k impressions. - Google [published a blog post]( about how a Brazilian media portal used Web Stories to increase engagement by more than 250 percent. So yes, Web Stories work. If you want to build one of your own, Google [did an entire workshop]( on the topic. Basically, your web stories should be visual-led, about 10 to 15 pages long, and include less than 280 characters of text on each page. These are just helpful guidelines, of course. We go much deeper into how to use Web Stories and dozens of other growth channels in our recent Deep Dive. [You can preview it here.]( ROUNDING UP THE STACK [INSIGHTS:]( We analyzed over 20,000 news articles and statistics from the last two years to identify the fastest-growing e-commerce marketing channels and the latest ad formats—and show you how to leverage them. [Join Insights and get access here.](* [ADVERTISING:]( Apparently, brands advertising on TV do better if they’re also running TikTok ads. At least that’s what TikTok claims in a recent report. [BING:]( Bye-bye, anonymous sitemap submissions. Bing is trashing the feature because spammers have been abusing it, and they’re suggesting webmasters use alternative tools instead. This is why we can’t have nice things… [TIKTOK:]( You know how LinkedIn has that “who’s viewed your profile” feature? TikTok swiped the idea and launched their own version. And it goes both ways—if you activate it, others can see when you view their profile, too. *This is a sponsored post.
