🏃 Smart money case study: How I made 194% on AFRM in 33 minutes!

Spotting the Opportunity On Black Friday, 11/24, Affirm Holdings (NASDAQ: AFRM) was trading between about $25.50 and $26.50 all day… When I noticed this interesting bet show up on my smart money scanner: Someone put $41,130 into the $28.50 calls expiring the next Friday… A bold move, considering that this was a short-dated bet that would need a big price move to pay off. Smart money? Could be… Why AFRM? AFRM is a leading payment company, so ahead of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend… It checked out that this play could be poised for big news and activity the coming Monday… Especially with the growing trend of "buy now, pay later" (BNPL) services. Action and Alerts So, liking the opportunity at hand, I put AFRM on my watchlist, sent out before the market open on Monday morning, 11/27… Pointing out the DEC 1 2023 $28 calls, targeting a break over $27.50. AFRM got to work right away, jumping above $30 within the first 30 minutes of trading. I seized the moment, entering and alerting my AFRM trade idea at 9:35am ET, where I got these calls for an average price of $0.85. Scaling Out AFRM took off, and I scaled out at: - $1.12 - $1.32 - $1.72 Before finally exiting the position at $2.50 at 10:08am ET. Thanks to AFRM’s quick move, I was able to snag a 194.12% gain – in just 33 minutes! Not bad! But AFRM's momentum didn't stop there. Throughout the week, the stock continued to soar, and those $28 calls reached a peak of $9.78… 1,050.59% higher than where I bought them at! Now, I didn’t get the full ride there, and that’s part of my trading strategy: Taking a W when it’s on the table, and not being greedy with my trades, even when it’s tempting! Marathon Digital Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: MARA) saw almost a million dollars pile into the $13 calls expiring at the end of this week. No doubt, this is related to Bitcoin’s recent surge (hitting over $42K today!)… So, will be interesting to see how this bet plays out through the week, and if it MARA will continue to rise alongside BTC. Today’s other big smart money bet is another Bitcoin play: Riot Platforms (NASDAQ: RIOT). RIOT closed today at $15, well above the $13 calls that showed up on the scanner… Meaning this move could indicate this trader believes RIOT (and likely BTC) will continue to soar throughout the week. These calls also expire at the end of this week.
