[Image] Happy Monday! Here’s what’s going on in the world of smart-money this week! In today’s Dark Money Trades rundown: - 🏦 From Goldman exec to disgraced insider trader - 💰 2 interesting smart money bets from this morning - 🔫 Ben’s Bullets – 3 big ideas for the market this week Read time: 3 minutes 🚀 [Dark Money Scoop: Goldman's Game of Squash & Insider Trading]( 🎾 Image source: Reuters In the high-stakes world of Wall Street, one man's climb to the top ended up with a big fall. Brijesh Goel, a former vice president at Goldman Sachs, found himself at the heart of an insider trading scandal. Here's how it all unfolded, step by step. Goldman Sachs Beginnings As a vice president at Goldman Sachs, Goel had access to sensitive information regarding potential mergers and acquisitions, a privilege that came with his role in the company. Leaking Insider Information In 2017, Goel began leaking confidential details about possible mergers involving companies such as Spirit Airlines and drugmaker Patheon to his friend, Akshay Niranjan. Their favorite meeting place to exchange insider info? On a squash court during games together! 🤯 The Illicit Profit-Sharing Scheme Goel and Niranjan struck a deal to share the profits from the insider trading, which amounted to approximately $280,000. 💰 This secret partnership, however, was doomed to fail. The Bust In a summer crackdown led by U.S. Attorney Damien Williams, Goel's illicit activities were brought to light. Niranjan, cooperating with the prosecutors, recorded conversations with Goel in which he was asked to delete incriminating messages. The Trial and Conviction Despite Goel's testimony denying the sharing of confidential information and suggesting he was framed by Niranjan, the jury was unconvinced. Goel was convicted on four counts of securities fraud, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice. Conclusion Brijesh had quite the wild ride, to say the least! Remember, insider activity happens almost every day in the stock market… And we can take advantage of it for our own trading, as long as we know the signs to look for. Let’s move on to some of the smart-money moves I’m seeing this week. 💰 The biggest smart-money bets of the week 💰 $972.86K bearish bet on TOST NOV 10th $15 puts @ $0.75 (seen on 10/30) $2.88M bullish bet on X DEC 1st $34 calls @ $1.36 (seen on 10/30) This week, we’re looking at some slightly longer-dated smart-money bets that came through on the scanner today. (While still being fairly short-term!) First, these Toast Inc (NYSE: TOST) puts came through, with almost a million dollars in them. They expire at the end of next week, and have an earnings date next Tuesday on 11/7. TOST has had a tough couple months, and after a really bad day today, I’ll be interested to see if these continue to fall even lower. As for United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X), this massive smart-money trade was a bet to the upside… With $2.88 million dollars pouring into these calls expiring on December 1st. X has been on a roll recently, with the stock price up over 50% since June… And this big bet seems to think it could keep going higher, as X approaches its highest price of the last 5 years! As I like to say… “X Gon' Give It To Ya”… We’ll see if that holds true over the next few weeks! 👀 🔫 Ben’s Bullets for the Week Interesting ideas I’m keeping an eye on in the market this week: - Lotto earnings idea: AMZN NOV 3rd $133 calls - X NOV 17th $34 calls, above $34 - GOOGL NOV 3rd $128 calls, above $126 - RIVN NOV 17th $16 calls, above $15.80 In case you missed it earlier today… I went LIVE with Rob Booker for a Q&A on the 11-day surge… Where I shared the top “surge stock” ticker I’m looking at… That could be in for an explosive move once this 11-day window starts on Wednesday. Plus—how he’s preparing for this upcoming 11-day surge… That he’s used to knock out 33 out of 34 winners during these rare time-windows. Don’t miss this critical information!
