Words to inspire you in your endeavors » [Spoonflower]( [Fabric]( [Wallpaper]( [Living & Decor]( [Dining]( [Bedding]( [hero image]( Earlier this year, we asked a group of artists from the [Spoonflower Marketplace]( what their 2022 creative goals were. Today, we're checking in again to see how their goals have progressed (or adjusted!) since. Meet the Artists [adenaj]( [Nouveau waterlily Wallpaper by adenaj]( Featured designs: [Dragon Fire Rainbow]( and [Nouveau Waterlily]( Adena's 2022 Goal: “I really want to learn how to sew in 2022. I would love to design a collection of baby blankets and cut-and-sew plush toys for my Spoonflower shop, but I'll need to learn how to sew more than hair scrunchies first!” How It's Going Five Months Later “So far 2022 has been a rather challenging year. All I’ve done with my sewing machine is to pack it, and unpack it, several times for household moves. When life gets stressful I tend to cling to routine, and the [Weekly Spoonflower Design Challenges]( have been a way to stay creative during the chaos. I really enjoy the sense of purpose they provide and the interaction with other artists. I still hope to fit in sewing classes at some point; the year isn’t over yet!” [Shop Adena's Designs]( [hyacinth-biggie-size-by-nick_neuman]( [Nick Neuman]( Featured designs: [Hyacinth - Biggie Size]( and [Imma Bee]( Nick's 2022 Goal: "Spoonflower has been a great platform to showcase my unique style. In 2022, my artistic goal is to build up my design library and develop artwork that is imperfect and relatable. I'm dedicated to painting outside of the lines and breaking artistic rules." How It's Going Five Months Later "Now that we are halfway through 2022, I feel I've stuck to my goal of building my [design library]( with imperfect and relatable prints. Life can be hard, and conflicts will arise. However, I do my best to develop at least one new pattern per week. I continue to use Spoonflower as a platform to showcase my unique style, and I love being part of this talented group of artists. I've learned that if you have a design idea, do it with enthusiasm. Sometimes I'll even chuckle when I see my final print." [Shop Nick's Designs]( [In the weeds by smokeinthewoods]( [smokeinthewoods]( Featured designs: [In the Weeds]( and [Vintage Can Vases - Medium]( Wipada's 2022 Goal: “My goal is to grow as an artist, challenge myself and hopefully gain more exposure. Spoonflower is my main platform for displaying my art, and the Weekly Design Challenges are a great inspiration and motivation to keep me focused and productive.” How It's Going Five Months Later "I do believe that I am achieving my goals in a realistic sense. I am gaining more exposure as well as learning and being inspired by the [Weekly Design Challenges]( and exposure to different artists on Spoonflower. Positive feedback has helped me to believe in myself and reinvigorate my passion for design. I have learned to be true to myself and to never give up. I would say my goals have not changed but grown to hopefully one day include contract work." [Shop Wipada's Designs]( [subhashini_narayanan]( [subhashini_narayanan]( Featured design: [Joyful Palm Spring]( Subhashini's 2022 Goal: “My goal for 2022 is to consistently show up for myself and my creativity. Take time off if I need to, prioritizing self-care. And to participate more in Spoonflower's design challenges, as they have always inspired me to paint and explore new ideas.” How It's Going Five Months Later "The goal I set for this year was to make more art. But I hit a roadblock falling into an imposter syndrome attack. I still showed up in a different way. Instead of forcing myself to make new art, I focused on turning the art from my sketchbooks into repeating patterns. It helped me to build my [pattern library](. I was able to make a lot of finished patterns for my Spoonflower shop. So happy to share this little win of me crossing 500 designs in my spoonflower shop." [Shop Subhashini's Designs]( [bloom-motivational-art-panel-by-paisleyanddot_llc]( [paisleyanddot_llc]( Featured designs: [Bloom Motivational Art Panel]( and [Mini Ballerina Dancing Pink]( Lin's 2022 Goal: “My goal is to gain exposure. Being featured in this spotlight is a great start! I'd love to see my designs across Spoonflower's other shops in marketplaces like Etsy, Amazon and eBay. My art feels smile-provoking to me and I want to spread that joy.” How It's Going Five Months Later "Since January I did gain more exposure and became more strategic. I merged shops with my daughter Nel under an LLC. Partnering with my daughter was the best idea ever. We have fun things coming down the pipe. I'm super excited about our collection [Positive Vibe]( which consists of various panels each with a different positive message. It's ideal for pillows, wall hangings and handmade tote bags. We also now have a website, private Facebook group, and a free membership form for digital file purchases." [Shop Lin and Nel's Designs]( [vincent_briggs]( [Chaos Dinosaurs on Rainbow Scribble Wall Hanging by vincent_briggs]( Featured designs: [Bathroom Dinosaurs]( and [Chaos Dinosaurs on Rainbow Scribble]( Vincent's 2022 Goal: “I have so many different ideas for fabric patterns! I plan to get a drawing tablet soon so that I can draw bigger and more complicated ones without being limited by what I can fit onto a scanner. I'd also love to try to reproduce some historical prints.” How It's Going Five Months Later "I have gotten a drawing tablet, and it's been a huge help! I've made some patterns of [various creatures]( and have gotten some work done on a few large 18th-century patterns which aren't finished yet. I haven't worked on them recently because I hurt my hand, so I've been focusing more on sewing at the moment but will get back to the patterns eventually." [Shop Vincent's Designs]( [sandra_hutter_designs]( [Yoga Women - Do What You Love Wall Hanging by sandra_hutter_designs]( Featured designs: [Camping Adventures Small]( and [Yoga Women - Do What You Love]( Sandra's 2022 Goal: “My goals are to participate in as many design challenges as possible, to continue to develop larger pattern collections, to keep growing my artistic skills and portfolio—and to dream BIG. I also want to travel. For me, traveling is an endless source of inspiration.” How It's Going Five Months Later "I am very excited that I have placed 4 of [my designs]( in the top 10 of the design challenges since January. I see this as proof that it is worth not giving up and to continue working on yourself. I've also been contacted by companies who have found me through Spoonflower and with whom collaboration has been formed. So the year has started well for me, but I still need to get better at developing new collections. Traveling is next—I'll be visiting Italy, Croatia and Spain this summer."
