[Splinter]( Splinter is Back! In November, Paste Magazine [bought]( Jezebel and Splinter from G/O Media, and after resurrecting Jezebel, Paste has now brought Splinter back to life. Jacob Weindling (me, hi!) is the Splinter Editor-in-Chief and the excellent [Dave Levitan]( who has written for Splinter and Gizmodo in the past (as well as at many, many other well-known outlets), will be Splinter’s Deputy Editor. We know it was years ago that you signed up for the Splinter newsletter, but we hope you'll continue to find value it is as we bring you the best Splinter stories of the day, whether it’s covering some new evil dipshittery from Trumpworld, the fecklessness of the Democrats, the media’s complicity in laundering the priorities of the powerful, the banality of America’s rampant economic corruption, the latest news about our warming planet, a sports blog or two from time to time, the slivers of good news we do occasionally get in politics, or any of the other important news stories that so often slip through the cracks of mainstream discourse. Our aim with Splinter is to pick right up where the old folks left off, and highlight voices and stories that matter while calling out bullshit as we see it. We also hope you'll consider a [subscription to support our work](. The digital media world is rapidly decaying as it is getting crushed under the weight of Google and Facebook’s greed and a litany of venture capitalists’ inability to understand that dynamic. In addition to reviving Splinter and Jezebel, Paste will be putting its money where its mouth is in its commitment to Splinter and Jezebel’s collectivist values, and will be sharing a significant portion of subscription revenue with key writers and staff. The vast majority of the content on Jezebel and Splinter will remain free, but we are introducing a subscription tier that we will eventually put some bonus content behind, it also gives you the ability to comment on articles, access to a Discord channel with Jezebel and Splinter staff to chat during major events like the Oscars or the presidential election, and swag like a t-shirt, plus for those who subscribe annually, a hat as well. We will continue to brainstorm ideas to add to this subscription tier in our commitment to keep most content free, as we want to reward our most devoted readers while trying to build a business that can sustain itself through the damage Google and Facebook are doing to the industry. We understand the natural trepidation that comes with any new entity taking over a beloved site, but we want to assure Splinter readers that us at Paste Politics were adhering to Splinter’s lefty values before there was a Splinter, and we will continue to do so as we re-launch this great website. We can never replicate the efforts of all the great people who established Splinter as a site worth saving, but we can attempt to honor them, and we hope that you will join us along for the journey. —Jacob Weindling Today's Top Stories [Splinter Is Back!]( [Splinter Is Back!]( We are not trying to reinvent the wheel here. The Splinter mission has not changed. [Meet Splinter’s New Editor-In-Chief, Jacob Weindling]( [Meet Splinter’s New Editor-In-Chief, Jacob Weindling]( It's quite literally my dream to be here, and my hope is that one day I can earn a fraction of the respect commanded by the banner I write underneath.
