[vision-net.ie]( Almost 5,600 new Irish companies formed between July & September 2017 [vision-net.ie]( 6th October, 2017 Between 1st July and 30th September this year, we have seen the formation of 5,594 new Irish companies - an average of over 60 start-ups per day - an increase of 7.9% on the same period in 2016 (5,185). Professional services remains the most popular industry for Irish start-ups with 18.5% (1,037) operating in this sector - these companies would typically be associated with Accounting, Admin, Marketing, Engineering, HR, Investigation, Legal Services etc. The finance and social & personal sectors were the second and third most popular industries for start-ups and accounted for 860 and 602 new companies respectively. Construction and wholesale & retail round out the top 5 most popular industries with 565 and 557 start-ups respectively. Approximately 47% of Q3-2017 start-ups are based in Dublin a further 10% in Cork. Kildare, Galway and Meath are next on the list and account for just over 12% of new companies between them.
