Hello, I hope you are having a great time celebrating the festival of colors! Happy Women's Day to all our readers and the community, which has been a constant support through the years. I know your timelines and inboxes today would be filled with some thoughtful stories and perspectives. I thought I would share a story from the Social Samosa Network. The year is 2016, and a couple of weeks before Women's Day, our Editorial team is brainstorming on the kind of stories Women in Advertising and Marketing would like to read, we realized as a first step, we should identify Voices and Role Models for Women to follow in the industry. These are the stories Women in Advertising and Marketing need. The core thought was Indian Advertising, Marketing, and Media Ecosystem always had stories of grit, determination, and dedication but weren't out there to be celebrated or get inspired and craft a story of their own. Kalpana Chawla was the first Indian Woman to fly in space, and she paved the way for Indian Women in Astronomy; similarly [Indra Nooyi]( illustrious journey inspired Women to break the glass ceiling and aim for the sky. Whether it is [Deepali Naair]( building brands and achieving business outcomes for Automobile to BFSI, Travel, and Tech or [Megha Tata]( leading Media Networks from the front. [Kirthiga Reddy]( [Sapna Chadha]( and [Virginia Sharma]( helming the growth and expanse of Top Digital Media Platforms. On the Advertising and Media front, [Anupriya Acharya]( the first Woman to head a holding company, and AAAI, [Divya Karani]( and [Nandini Dias]( are leading the way for Women in Media. [Babita Baruah]( [Swati Bhattacharya]( [Tista Sen]( and [Kainaz Karmakar]( taking the Creative Baton from India to the world. [Rubeena Singh]( [Chandni Shah]( [Pooja Jauhari]( and [Heeru Dingra]( setting examples for Women Leaders in Digital. Some of these women we have seen and witnessed from closed quarters but we knew there were enough and more stories of Women who have disrupted the Advertising, Marketing and Industry and should be celebrated. And hence we launched Superwomen an initiative driven by the Women at Social Samosa to curate stories that inspire and build a community of Women who support Women. This is the 8th Year for the initiative, and though we have been successful in capturing the lives of Superwomen from different walks of the industry, I know we have to strive hard towards building a community. I am glad each year, with Superwomen, we bring forward some of these stories only to hear more of such stories. A Yearly Superwomen List and Meetup aren't enough! Trust me; we are taking baby steps to work on it. This is a shout-out to all the Superwomen out there to join me in making this platform more meaningful. I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on the same and perhaps meet & discuss how we can work together in making this community a responsible ally for Women in the Industry.
