This week's Highlights from the archive theme: Great rookie seasons for players on the Mets, Yankees, Jets, Giants and Knicks.
Today's rookie: Yankees second basemen Alfonso Soriano.
His first full year in the majors: 2001.
GIF'd above: Soriano's eighth-inning home run in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, which was an inning short of winning the Yankees the whole thing.
His '01 highlights:
- A third-place Rookie of the Year finish behind Ichiro and CC Sabathia, 158 games, .268 BA, 18 HRs, 73 RBIs, 43 SBs.

In the '01 postseason alone, he hit [a walk-off]( in Game 4 of the ALCS, made [a game-saving]( play in Game 5 of the World Series, hit [a walk-off single]( to end the same game, and hit the aforementioned go-ahead home run in Game 7 of the World Series.
