1. Reports: MLB to present plan for season soon
SNY graphic
Yesterday afternoon, Joel Sherman of the New York Post [reported MLB is planning to present]( a plan to start the 2020 season to the Players Association by "the beginning of next week at the latest -- perhaps even before this week is concluded."
That night, ESPN's Jeff Passan also reported [something along those lines](
- "Major League Baseball expects to offer a return-to-play proposal to the MLB Players Association within a week as teams have begun to encourage players to prepare for a 'spring' training that could begin in mid-June and a season that would start in early July."
All along, SNY's Andy Martino [has reported]( optimism within the league that a season will happen.
As one source told him in late-April:
- "In a few weeks they'll go with the one that makes the most sense at that time."

2. How Sam Darnold compares to other QBs from the 2018 draft
Evan Habeeb/USA Today
Assuming the 2020 NFL season is up and running by this fall, four quarterbacks from the 2018 draft class will enter year No. 3 with ample experience and a starting spot:
- New York's Sam Darnold, Cleveland's Baker Mayfield, Buffalo's Josh Allen, and Baltimore's Lamar Jackson.
(10th overall pick Josh Rosen is stuck in QB purgatory in Miami.)
Obviously, Jackson, who led the Ravens to a 14-2 record last year and won league MVP, has the early lead for best QB of his class.
Here's a look at how the four compare in five different categories.
No. of starts:
- Mayfield: 29
- Allen: 27 (one playoff start)
- Darnold: 26
- Jackson: 22 (two playoff starts)
Record as starter:
- Jackson: 19-3 (86 percent wins)
- Allen: 15-12 (55.5 percent)
- Darnold: 11-15 (42.3 percent)
- Mayfield: 12-17 (41.3 percent)
Throwing and rushing TDs:
- Jackson: 54
- Mayfield: 52
- Allen: 47
- Darnold: 39
Passer rating:
- Jackson: 104.7
- Mayfield: 85.9
- Darnold: 81.1
- Allen: 78.2
Game-winning drives:
- Allen: 8
- Mayfield: 5
- Darnold: 4
- Jackson: 1

DAILY TRIVIA
Who is the Yankees' all-time leader in steals?
3. Highlights from the archive
MLB/YouTube
On this day 61 years ago, 93,103 people -- a then-record for single-game baseball attendance -- showed up to the L.A. Coliseum for "Roy Campanella Night," an exhibition between the Dodgers and Yankees held to raise money for Campanella, who was paralyzed in a single-car accident on Long Island on January 28, 1958.
GIF'd above is a shot of the crowd at the football stadium-turned-diamond, which gives you an idea of how large a crowd it was, and a wheelchair-bound Campanella, who caught for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1948-57 and won three MVPs. He also followed Jackie Robinson as the second black player to play in Brooklyn.
As for the game, the Yankees won, 6-2, compiling 13 hits. Sandy Koufax started for the Dodgers, who were only two seasons removed from betraying Brooklyn moving west to Los Angeles.
More: [Here's]( Vin Scully remembering the game 57 years later.

- Willie Mays turned 89 yesterday. [Here's]( a picture of him playing stickball in Harlem.
- PFF has Saquon Barkley [as No. 13]( on the 25 under 25 list.
- Jamal Adams [is No. 5]( on the same list.
- Patrick Ewing [says his Olympic gold medals]( and championship ring were stolen.
- Former Baylor coach Matt Rhule [on former Bear]( Denzel Mims: "When it was crunch time, he was who we went to."
---------------------------------------------------------------
Trivia answer: Derek Jeter, with 358. Rickey Henderson, who played in 2,151 less games than Jeter, is second with 326.
That's the buzzer, folks. Stay safe and enjoy your Thursday.
