We’re rolling out a new Record API. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Starting April 1, 2022, we’re changing how you manage your visitors’ data and collect user consent on your website. Due to the rapidly evolving landscape in privacy laws, you need to ensure that your organization always follows the laws, regulations, and governing guidelines within the different jurisdictions you operate in. This means that you need to align data and consent collection according to compliance regulations such as GDPR (in Europe), LGDP (in Brazil), CCPA (in California), etc. For this reason, we are retiring the old Consent API and replacing it with the new Record API. New API for managing consent and recording visitors’ data What does this mean for existing projects? Starting from June 1, 2022, all existing projects that were created prior to April 1, 2022 (consent version 1) will need to implement the new Record API to their website projects to manage consent and record visitors’ data. Since any compliance-related changes will be handled through this new API, we will remove the "data recording settings" from the Project Settings. The Identify API setting will still be available. If you’re a site owner, we encourage you to implement the new API to keep recording personal data like previously. This will prevent any data loss due to a lack of consent. For existing projects, the new Record API will behave like the old one (Consent API) during the transition period. Please note that after June 1, 2022, the old Consent API will be deprecated and will not work anymore. What does this mean for new projects? All new projects created after April 1, 2022 (consent version 2) will need to implement the new Record API. When you enable personal data collection in Smartlook, you confirm that you’re lawfully collecting this data. Based on this, the new Record API should be initiated by following the steps described in our documentation[[(. By initiating the Record API you guarantee that you have obtained any consent that might be required under the relevant jurisdiction. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
