NASA has confirmed that debris found on the ocean floor off Florida's Atlantic coast comes from the fallen space shuttle Challenger, which exploded on Jan. 28, 1986, killing all seven astronauts on board. Divers discovered the 20-foot (6 meters) section of Challenger's hull while searching for downed World War II-era aircraft as part of a History Channel documentary series, "The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters." Northwest of the Triangle, the filmmakers found a patch of seafloor containing modern-looking debris, partially covered in sand. Full Story: [Live Science]( (11/11)

Archaeologists made the hair-raising discovery several years after unearthing a hair comb, which they found in 2016 at an Israeli archaeological site called Tel Lachish, located south of Tel Aviv. The site was once a city inhabited by the Canaanites, who lived in what is now Syria between 3500 B.C. and 1150 B.C., during the Bronze Age. Full Story: [Live Science]( (11/14)

In a first, doctors began treating a child's rare genetic disorder before she was born. The child, who is now 16 months old, will still require treatment for the rest of her life, but starting her therapy early meant she was born without overt signs of the disorder and with the chance of a better prognosis. The unique case was described in a report published Wednesday (Nov. 9) in The New England Journal of Medicine. Full Story: [Live Science]( (11/12)

A surge of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections in U.S. babies and toddlers has coincided with an uptick in demand for certain types of amoxicillin, which, in turn, has driven shortages of the antibiotic. Amoxicillin kills bacteria, not viruses, but there's a possibility that the RSV surge may be contributing to the drug shortage, experts told Live Science. But why would that be? A house that recently burned down in California may have been set ablaze by an extremely rare meteorite impact. Several witnesses saw a spectacular fireball meteor streak across the sky just above the property at the same time the home went up in smoke, but nobody saw the falling space rock land.
