Hi, it's your SmartBrief on Leadership editor! Thank you for reading and subscribing. I know who Willard Scott was but didn't really know his work. What I did learn several years ago, from the still-excellent McDonald's biography ["McDonald's: Behind The Arches,"]( is that [Scott was the first Ronald McDonald]( and filmed three commercials as the character in the 1960s. That alone might have earned him a public tribute, but Scott had decades ahead of him as a familiar figure for millions of TV viewers.
