Demand for US advertising declined 35% year-over-year last month, hitting the lowest point since the benchmarking began in 2012, per Standard Media Index and MediaPost. [Report: Q1 media buyers favored mobile over desktop](
Mobile ad spend dropped 15% during the first quarter while desktop witnessed a 25% reduction and mobile's share of global ad spend reached 51% by the end of the period versus 48% at the beginning of March and the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, according to PubMatic. The report also showed that private marketplaces have benefited during the pandemic with mobile in-app ad volume increasing 65% and mobile web volume rising 28%, though desktop volume has dropped 20%.
