Many respondents to the 2019 LegalShield Workplace Study are concerned about the rise of identity theft, and nearly all said having identity theft protection would ease their minds. [Data of 650K exposed in laptop theft](
GridWorks, an Oregon company that provides nonemergency medical transportation, reports that a laptop containing personal data -- including Social Security numbers -- of more than 650,000 people was stolen in November. [Calif. privacy law cited in Salesforce data breach suit](
A California resident is suing children's clothing company Hanna Andersson and its e-commerce provider, Salesforce, over a data breach the plaintiff says violated the new California data privacy law. The suit, which states that the companies were negligent in not providing better cybersecurity to protect against identity theft, is believed to be the first citing the California Consumer Privacy Act, which went into effect Jan. 1.
