[FTC urged by lawmakers to investigate app-related child privacy violations](
Democratic Sens. Ed Markey of Massachusetts and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut have written to the Federal Trade Commission to ask it to investigate app developers, app stores and advertising companies in relation to possible breaches of children's privacy legislation. The pair cite a study by the University of California at Berkeley that found that thousands of apps aimed at children could have violated the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.
