G'day! I'm [Stuart], the founder of Slant :) This is an automated email as a result of you contributing to Slant. I used to try and write these manually, but we have the nice problem of too many new people signing up for that to be sustainable :) Given that this email is probably sitting next to a bunch of spam, let me cut to the chase. Slant is a product recommendation community. Our goal is to make it simple and fast to find the best product, app or game for you. No more tabs full of forums and reviews. No more trying to find the few gems amongst all the crap on the top charts. We have two core philosophies: - Product search should be able to answer questions like “What’s the best camera for sports photography around $200?”. Existing product search naively looks for keywords in the product descriptions written by people trying to game the system. It’s context-ignorant and awful in so many ways. - The information used to answer your question should be fast to read, comprehensive, and come from an authentic and knowledgeable community. The community aspect to Slant is the most important. Questions on Slant are collaboratively answered by the recommendations of thousands of people coming together to share what they know. So instead of digging through reviews, you can quickly read one comprehensive summary. This is also what makes contributing to the Slant community so rewarding. You can recommend products you’re passionate about while getting help from others on things where you’re not so knowledgeable. It would take me minutes to help someone make an informed choice on their next Android phone, but I’m clueless when it comes to headphones. Think of the Slant community as a super efficient way of sharing knowledge about products so we all come out on top. We’re going to keep improving and expanding Slant until it’s the only place you need to go to get your next blender, todo app or RPG game. We’re deadset on building a consumer run alternative to the App stores, Amazon and Steam that not only is easier to use but meritocratically rewards the best products. Thanks so much for joining Slant, if you have any ideas on how to improve the site please reply to this email. Stuart ------- Don't want to receive emails from us? [Unsubscribe]
