Feeling the pressure? I’ve got a solution for you. Hey there, I love New Year’s resolutions. Not because I am some sort of robot who spends all her time at the gym eating healthy, saving money, and hanging with her friends and family (if that were the case I wouldn’t NEED New Year’s resolutions, helloooo), but because I love the idea of being able to take stock of how things are going and reset. But my problem with New Year’s resolutions has always been: why limit new year’s resolutions to January? I, for one, need them all year long. Which is why I like to practice new New Year’s resolutions. My thinking is I should be able to reset at anytime of year, as needed. Plus, there’s something hilarious about declaring new New Year’s resolutions in November and December. Just think - at that point you only need to keep at ‘em for 2 months, not 12 ;) In all seriousness, the reason I believe in new New Year’s resolutions is because there’s too much pressure associated with New Year’s resolutions that are only available to us once a year. Stopped going to gym by the third week of January? Fail! Going to have to wait until next year to try again! But with a new New Year’s resolution you get another chance. Not only do you get another chance to improve yourself, you can iterate on the New Year’s resolution. Maybe going to the gym three times a week was too high a barre, let’s update our resolution to two times a week! 2016 has been a tough year for everyone, worldwide–my social media feeds are filled with people gleefully counting down the days to 2017 in expletive laden posts. For better, or worse, though...nothing is really going to change on January 1st. We’ll still be living in this same crazy world as we were on December 31st. You’ve got a week and change left in 2016, so let’s put those new New Year’s resolutions to work.
