Prototyping in Sketch 49, automatic padding, 500 device mockups and more [Sketch News] [View on the web]( [Archives]( ISSUE 44 [Say Hello to Prototyping in Sketch 49]( [Say Hello to Prototyping in Sketch 49]( In Sketch 49 you can now transform your designs into interactive prototypes without ever leaving the app. This release also brings a whole host of other exciting updates. Here are the headline features: - You can now create clickable prototypes directly in Sketch - Apple’s official UI design resource for iOS is now built in to the app as a Shared Library - We’ve introduced the ability to download and subscribe to Libraries on Sketch Cloud - Over 60 other enhancements and bug fixes, including massively improved performance of Sketch in general, particularly when working on complex documents with lots of Symbols To find out more about all the awesome new features in Sketch 49, check out the [full list of updates](. [sketchapp.com]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [An In-depth Look at Prototyping in Sketch]( Speaking of Prototyping, we’ve taken a deep dive into some of Sketch 49’s new features, in our latest blog post. Find out everything you need to know about creating, previewing and sharing Prototypes in Sketch, and get the low down on how to speed up your workflow and make the most of the latest update. [medium.com]( [Automated Padding, Spacing and Alignment for your Sketch Layers]( [Automated Padding, Spacing and Alignment for your Sketch Layers]( Ever wanted to add CSS-style padding to buttons and other elements in Sketch? With David Williames’ new plugin, now you can. Paddy lets you apply padding to one Layer in a group and, when you edit another Layer in the same group, the ‘Background Layer’ will automatically resize itself to maintain the same amount of space around the other grouped Layers. And the best part is, it even works with Symbols. This simple, lightweight plugin also allows you to set the spacing and alignment of groups, automatically distributing and aligning your Layers as you edit them in Sketch. Magic! Pablo over at Sketch Together created a great [tutorial video]( showing off all of Paddy’s features. [github.com]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [A Super-charged Boolean Operation]( [A Super-charged Boolean Operation]( Here’s one for the power users out there. Separate Shapes is a plugin that adds an additional “boolean” operation to Sketch. Peter Strömberg’s plugin lets you select a set of overlapping shape Layers and separate them into individual segments based on where they intersect. Any uninterrupted area will become its own layer allowing you create and manipulate some really interesting shapes. If you’re a recent convert to Sketch from Adobe Illustrator, you might find Separate Shapes very handy as this plugin works in a similar way to the “Divide” button in Illustrator’s Pathfinder panel. [github.com]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [Generate Isometric Views from Artboards and Rectangles]( [Generate Isometric Views from Artboards and Rectangles]( Sures Kumar’s Sketch Isometric plugin lets you transform your Artboards and Rectangles into isometric shapes. You can choose the rotation direction, depth and scale of the shapes before you generate them and change all of the colors, once the isometric view has been generated. You can even use a plugin like Magic Mirror, to map your designs onto the top of an isometric shape or Artboard to create some really cool mockups. If that’s not your thing, this plugin can also be used to create some awesome isometric illustrations and patterns. [github.com]( [500 Devices and Mockups for Sketch]( [500 Devices and Mockups for Sketch]( We can’t seem to send out a newsletter these days without featuring another incredibly useful resource from our friend Meng To over at Design+Code, and this issue is no exception. Meng has just released Angle 2; a huge collection of Device and perspective mockups, perfect for displaying your latest work. The collection comes as an expansive Library full of customizable Nested Symbols, each with four “finishes” — clay, realistic, flat, or a custom color. The full version contains 77 iOS, 29 Android, 19 Mac, 21 Screen and 60 Comp device mockups for a total of 500 components and an almost unlimited number of combinations. Better yet, Design+Code have created a free Sketch Plugin that allows you to map your Artboards into theses perspective mockups so showing off your screen designs has never been easier (or cooler). You can get a free sample of the first 50 mockups and the plugin on the [Design+Code website]( now.
