In this week’s Analysis]( theCUBE industry analyst Dave Vellante gives an update on security leader CrowdStrike.
The gen AI game-changer CrowdStrike, known for its top-tier data security products, has shown steady growth and improved profitability, garnering investor excitement. A recent dip in stock value, possibly due to a challenging market and high revenue multiples, hasn't dampened the potential. The game-changer for CrowdStrike could be generative artificial intelligence, embodied by their natural language-based intelligent assistant, Charlotte AI. “We believe we are entering a new era where technology is going to begin to attack the number one problem faced by SecOps teams, and that's the lack of deep talent,” Vellante said. “Estimates indicate there are 3,000 unfilled security jobs today, and the vision is AI can begin to close that gap quite effectively.”
Vellante reviews CrowdStrike’s recent progress and shares survey data that shows where the company is strong and where there may be icebergs ahead. He also previews Fal.Con 2023, taking place later today.

[Get the free report]( [An analysis of Arm's IPO and a rant on AI regulation]( It’s been yet another busy season for theCUBE, marked by a summer of tech event coverage spanning hardware to generative AI, including last week’s SAS Explore event in Las Vegas. Alongside theCUBE’s event coverage, significant developments have unfolded in the tech industry, most notably the long-anticipated public offering of British chip design firm Arm Holdings. In this week’s [theCUBE Podcast]( John Furrier and Dave Vellante talk about how Arm's IPO, the largest of the year, witnessed the company's shares surging by 10% during initial trading and eventually closing with a remarkable gain of nearly 25% on Thursday.
They also delve into significant cybersecurity incidents involving Las Vegas hotel casinos MGM and Caesars, with Caesars paying a substantial sum due to a hack through an outsourced IT support vendor. The discussion briefly touched on the need for AI regulation, emphasizing the role of startups and innovation in addressing ethical challenges in AI development.
“Regulation of any kind is not good for the industry,” Furrier said. “Keep an eye on it, put guardrails in place, but get the hell out of the regulation conversation. That being said, there is a global aspect to it. That's what I think needs to be the focus. Look at it globally and start thinking about formulation of policy and potential doctrine around AI.”
Tech's dynamic landscape
The discussion further illuminated the critical role of AI in shaping the future of technology and briefly touched on the evolving landscape of AI regulation. As technology continues to evolve rapidly, the conversation highlighted the need for ongoing vigilance and adaptability in the ever-changing tech ecosystem.
