Join theCUBE at tech's top events this week [What will Google Cloud Next reveal about AI opportunities for the industry at large?]( Ahead of theCUBE's live coverage from Google Cloud Next, SiliconANGLE and theCUBE take a deep dive into the world of modern cloud computing as artificial intelligence signals a potential windfall for industry giants. In a [special report]( by Paul Gillin, the network edge is called out as a significant growth opportunity market for major cloud platform players. "We're likely to see the cloud providers dominate these AI-at-the-edge devices with development, deployment and operations," said David Linthicum, chief cloud strategy officer at Deloitte Consulting LLP. "AI at the edge will need configuration management, data management, security, governance and operations that best come from a central cloud." What will we learn of Google's AI play? It all bodes well for Google, a company known for supporting AI initiatives. In 2021 Google launched its Distributed Cloud platform to bring cloud stack capabilities into customers' data centers for running on-premises applications with the same application programming interfaces, control planes, hardware and tools they already use to connect with other Google apps and services. And given the demand for AI services at the edge, it's a good bet that Google could announce additional AI services for its Distributed Cloud at Google Cloud Next this week in San Francisco. What the analysts expect at Google Cloud Next Our analyst Dave Vellante sees Google's broader cloud play as an opportunity, as the company could "catch that wave and bring in added momentum to that marketplace." In this week's Breaking Analysis, Vellante puts Google's efforts into context as its competitors also look to solidify their data-led AI strategies. Here's what he expects at Google Cloud Next: - Generative artificial intelligence: We anticipate discussions surrounding AI will permeate the event and Google will attempt to take the mindshare lead in the market, surpassing Microsoft’s OpenAI leverage. - BigQuery and data cloud: The evolution of new data applications, encompassing entities such as people, places and things, in a semantically coherent manner suggests Google has a unique vantage point in this domain. - Mandiant integration: With the acquisition of Mandiant closed late last year, it is anticipated that security will play a pivotal role in the event’s narrative. - Retail cloud focus: Google’s pursuit of clients such as Walmart, an Amazon competitor, suggests it’s likely to amplify conversations surrounding retail cloud solutions. - Industry solutions and differentiation: With Thomas Kurian at the helm, Google Cloud has been striving for differentiation from competitors Microsoft and Amazon by emphasizing data solutions.   Read more of Vellante’s Breaking Analysis. It was a chance to analyze VMware strategies as it closes out the biggest chapter in company history.   “VMware, a tech titan, an iconic brand, closes its chapter of its storied historic run as an iconic, legendary Silicon Valley tech brand, inventing virtualization, changing the game [and] reinventing enterprise computing,” Furrier said. “They will be on the Mount Rushmore of tech companies, in my opinion.”   Broadcom’s planned acquisition of VMware is of pivotal importance in this discussion. Broadcom is likely to cut about $5 billion of fat off the company and focus the business units on 18-month business plans out of the gate. Broadcom is going to remake the company, and VMware is poised to go to a new level.   Snowflake's momentum, Nvidia's surge and surprises in Palo Alto Networks' earnings   Also up for discussion during this week’s episode of theCUBE Pod is Snowflake's quarterly performance, Nvidia's growth and Palo Alto Networks' surprising earnings. Furrier and Vellante also analyze the challenges faced by startups in the AI field, the dynamics of IPOs and the interactions with regulatory bodies.   Visit SiliconANGLE for more of Podcast](.
