theCUBE's podcasts & upcoming episodes [Spearing tech stocks beyond the Magnificent Seven]( Despite facing challenges in 2022, the tech industry has shown remarkable resilience in the first half of 2023, with early technology investments paying off significantly. “As we enter the second half of 2023, the run-up in tech stocks, combined with macro uncertainty, has led to a lot of investors taking a cautious posture," said Dave Vellante, industry analyst, during this week's [Breaking Analysis]( from theCUBE. "But we believe the long-term outlook for firms that can capitalize on the AI wave remains extremely attractive as an unstoppable force.”
Vellante talks about how major companies such as Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Nvidia and Tesla have experienced substantial growth, rewarding their investors. However, savvy investors have also explored opportunities beyond these well-known names, capitalizing on secular trends, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, software, cleantech and robotics.
As the second half of 2023 begins, the tech sector's upward momentum, coupled with macroeconomic uncertainties, has prompted some investors to adopt a cautious approach. Nevertheless, companies with prudent earnings guidance and the ability to harness the power of AI are expected to maintain a positive outlook in the mid-term.
Riding the rising tide of AI
Vellante talks to Ivana Delevska, Spear Invest founder and CIO, to assess the current state of the market and explore how this investor is playing AI’s rising tide. Vellante also analyzes Enterprise Technology Research data to drill deeper into semis, cloud infrastructure, generative AI, cybersecurity and Snowflake.
“Our fundamental thesis is based on the fact that consumer technologies drove the prior tech cycle,” Delevska said. “Now we're seeing technology embedded in every industry, whether you're looking at manufacturing, autos, life sciences, we believe the next cycle will be technology impacting every industry and transforming a lot of these traditional industries.”
