TheCUBE Breaking Analysis + upcoming broadcasts [MongoDB sends strong signals despite cautious macro tones]( As theCUBE from MongoDB World 2022, this week’s Analysis]( examines the financial fortunes of the cloud database provider in context of near-term market expectations.    In his [report]( analyst Dave Vellante comments he is seeing “some distinctly different results and guidance from major software companies in recent days.” Strong quarterly reports from MongoDB, Salesforce, UiPath and others should be viewed alongside the cautious views of the macroeconomic climate taken by Microsoft, Workday and Snowflake, he states.   High growth   Narrowing his focus to MongoDB and Snowflake, Vellante compares the two high-growth software companies in a financial snapshot. Adding in spending data from research firm ETR, he then reviews MongoDB’s customer spending patterns and its position relative to its data platform peers.    “One interesting side note is that on Mongo’s earnings call, executives clearly cited the advantages of its increasingly all-in-one approach, relative to others that offer a portfolio of bespoke, ‘horses for courses’ databases,” Vellante states.   The analysis concludes with Vellante answering the question “Why do customers buy MongoDB?” Evaluating the technology behind the company's cloud database platform, Vellante notes that Mongo has a large developer fanbase thanks to the flexibility offered by its decision to use a document database with no fixed schema. “There are nuances and tradeoffs as with any architecture, but Mongo’s approach is gaining traction in the market because simplicity with lots of functionality is a winning formula,” Vellante concludes. Publicly traded MongoDB provides an open-source NoSQL database that is widely used among developers. The database has been downloaded more than 265 million times, while developers at north of 35,000 organizations use it to power applications. Some of the product updates that MongoDB announced today are rolling out for its namesake open-source database. Other features will become available as part of MongoDB Atlas, a managed cloud version of the database. Atlas removes the need for customers to manage infrastructure and automates a number of other administrative tasks.  “Our vision is to offer a developer data platform that provides a modern and elegant developer experience, enables broad support for a wide variety of use cases, and delivers the performance and scale needed to address the most demanding requirements,” said MongoDB Chief Executive Officer Dev Ittycheria. [Snowflake introduces new cybersecurity workload for its cloud data platform]( Snowflake Inc. today introduced a new cybersecurity workload to help organizations more effectively protect their technology environments from cyberattacks. Snowflake provides a popular cloud data platform, the Snowflake Data Cloud, that enables customers to store and process large amounts of information. The platform [supports]( variety of workloads ranging from marketing analytics to data science. With the cybersecurity workload that was announced today, Snowflake is expanding its focus on those use cases. An important component of Snowflake’s value proposition is the integrations that it provides for partner-developed breach detection tools. Companies can use partner-developed tools to analyze the cybersecurity data they keep in Snowflake’s platform for breach indicators. Several threat detection software providers, including Panther Labs Inc. and Securonix Inc., enable their customers to run analyses on cybersecurity data stored in Snowflake’s platform without having to move the data first.  [New episode!
