Breaking Analysis + upcoming broadcasts In Dave Vellante takes a look at ?the ever-expanding cloud

Breaking Analysis + upcoming broadcasts [The ever-expanding cloud continues to storm the IT universe]( In [this week’s Breaking Analysis,]( Dave Vellante takes a look at “the ever-expanding cloud” as he shares the latest updates on the cloud computing market and explains why the definition of cloud is expanding to embrace new concepts.  Reigning cloud providers -- AWS, Microsoft, Alibaba and Google -- are jointly projected to bring in $167 billion in 2022, according to Vellante’s analysis. While AWS is holding its market lead with 50% of market revenue, the gap is narrowing. Both Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform are growing at 48%, bringing Azure’s revenue up to two-thirds the size of AWS. But despite high adoption figures, GCP is still trailing the pack. Cloud spending patterns Breaking down the big four’s spending patterns, Vellante highlights the importance of CapEx spend to market outlook. The surprise is that Azure’s net score is 67, beating out AWS' net score of 61. Hybrid cloud strategies dominate the market, extending opportunities to the on-prem players as well. Dell Technologies and Hewlett-Packard both have platforms well-positioned for a supercloud play, abstracting away the complexities of cloud management, according to Vellante.  “The opportunity in our view is to hide the underlying complexity of the cloud ... creating a singular experience across on-prem, across all the clouds and out to the edge,” Vellante stated.
