[Read more]( siliconangle.com [Security budgets are growing, but so is vendor sprawl]( This week’s Analysis]( with Dave Vellante presents data-driven insights on cybersecurity spending trends ahead of the RSA Conference. Vellante delves into the increasing budgets for security, with 87% of firms anticipating higher expenditure in the coming year. Despite this surge in spending, organizations face challenges in consolidating the multitude of security tools they deploy, with an average of 60 to 75 tools per firm.   While leading vendors advocate for consolidation to address complexity, the data reveals that more than half of the firms are actually adding more security vendors. The analysis also highlights the demographic breakdown of spending trends, with midsize companies showing the highest increase.   “Adding to the challenge is an environment where security operations pros have too many priorities to manage, including identity, vulnerability management, patching, endpoint, security and information event management, antivirus, zero trust, cloud security and more," Vellante said. "Finally, firms are investing in artificial intelligence to relieve the crushing labor burden security analysts are facing but are being forced to balance innovation with the daily battle." AI innovation helping to alleviate security burden   Moreover, key drivers for increased spending include multicloud adoption and ransomware protection. Also, the discussion explores the dissonance between security executives and practitioners, as well as the growing interest in AI innovation to alleviate the burden on security analysts. With insights from a recent survey conducted by Enterprise Technology Research, the episode previews RSA 2024 and discusses key themes, such as security observability and the adoption of AI tools.   You can find Dave Vellante's complete Breaking Analysis.
