It means that sometimes you just need to get something out there, start typing, open the file. It’s useful for creators (me included!) because it can help fade the fear of the empty page. It’s a concept that has helped me often, especially when I’m staring down a deadline. But -- and yes, there’s a but -- I also am not a huge fan of creative compromise. When I’m making something, I want it to be how I want it to be, and I want the failures to be my own. How do you reconcile the two? When is "good enough" just not...good enough? In business, we address this question by measuring outcomes. Did the campaign bring in new customers? Did the product sell? Are people spending time with the thing you made? This is all measurable. The risk here is that good then takes on the definition of whatever is measurable. If it made someone laugh but 30 percent fewer people saw it, does that mean it’s not good? Our challenge is to align our standards with our measurements so that we stay on course.]( [Happy creating!]( [jen]( [Jennifer Braunschweiger]( [Senior Director of Content Marketing]( [DREAM IT]( [High Society and Punk Rebellion: A History of Scottish Tartan]( [Come for the history, stay for the gorgeous collection of images.
