To defeat November’s abortion referendum, the GOP is pushing to hold an August special election to increase the threshold for constitutional amendments. This comes just months after Governor DeWine did away with special elections for being a waste of resources. Yet, now that an abortion rights amendment will go to voters in November, they’re trying to bring special elections back to defeat the majority they know pro-choice advocates have. This move is so blatantly anti-democratic and hypocritical that a bipartisan group of former Ohio governors, including John Kasich, Bob Taft, Dick Celeste, Ted Strickland, and more, has united against raising the constitutional threshold. The GOP’s underhanded tactics aren’t fooling anyone. This is only further evidence that Congress urgently needs to pass the Women's Health Protection Act. But to do this, {NAME}, we need to take back the House and elect enough pro-choice leaders to protect abortion rights federally. [Will you chip in $5 right now to help me in the fight to reclaim our Democratic majority in the House and defend abortion rights from the Ohio GOP’s hypocrisy? The fight isn’t over for Ohio abortion advocates, but with the GOP tilting the playing field in their favor, we must act to protect these rights at a federal level.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [$1 »]( [$5 »]( [$10 »]( [$25 »]( [$50 »]( [OTHER »]( I know I can count on you, Rep.
