It's less well-known that we get to choose our desks when elected, and even though the desks are all technically the same, it was a decision I took seriously. When I saw the names on desk 88, I knew I had found my Senate home: Robert F. Kennedy, Al Gore Sr., George McGovern, and more – the senators who preceded me at this desk all fought to make our country a better, more equitable place. They helped end segregation, protested the Vietnam War, and fought against wealth disparity. Their legacies inspire me to keep fighting for American families and the Dignity of Work.
