My friend Sherrod Brown of Ohio is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate, and I stand with him. Sherrod’s North Star is the Dignity of Work. He shows up to help all kinds of working families including farmers and folks in the suburbs. He’s improved their lives, and he has numerous receipts. Here are four: 1. Affordable Care Act (affordable health care) 2. Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (good-paying jobs) 3. Inflation Reduction Act (a curb on inflation that lowered the price of insulin and other prescription drugs) 4. Butch Lewis Act (saved Teamsters’ and other Ohio union workers’ pensions) [If that’s all you need to read, please donate $5 or whatever you can afford right now and enjoy the rest of your day!]( In a one-vote Democratic majority, Sherrod’s one vote is a bulwark against Republicans passing a NATIONAL ban on abortion care. We know that restricting abortion access is a health issue and a freedom issue. It’s also an economic issue. Forcing a woman out of the workplace harms her entire family. [And that’s why we need to join forces to keep Sherrod Brown in his workplace.]( Elected Republicans use power to crush people. They engineered the Supreme Court to reverse Roe v. Wade and deliver rulings that make the U.S. increasingly more autocratic. And Republicans have a detailed blueprint called Project 2025 to take away a lot more of our rights and freedoms. They wrote it down. [Believe them.]( Elected Democrats are using their one-vote Senate majority to lift people, including those who didn’t vote for them. Democrats’ words and actions have shown us that they are FOR the people. [Believe them](. Friend, do you agree that we need Sherrod back in the Senate next year? Word. Are you ready to DO something? [CONTRIBUTE $5 NOW]( [CONTRIBUTE $25 NOW]( [CONTRIBUTE $50 NOW]( [OTHER AMOUNT NOW]( Sherrod’s opponent is a wealthy Republican who hopes to buy the title “Senator” with the help of billionaire and special interest donors who expect legislative payback. Does he know that public service means serving the public? Or what it’s like for a family to agonize over a budget? Sherrod does. If Moreno wins, he’d give Republicans the majority they need to lower taxes for billionaires, while raising taxes for median Americans. Republicans want to defund the Department of Education and enact a national book ban. Moreno’s vote would put Republicans in our bedrooms and restrict access to emergency rooms. [If you don’t want this outcome, you have the power to prevent it.]( Friend, I lived in a rural county in Idaho for 38 years. Most of my neighbors voted for Republicans, and they knew I supported Democrats. But when my car broke down, they’d stop and make sure I got back on the road. And when a fire destroyed someone’s home, I sang on a flatbed trailer at a gathering to help him out. That’s what good neighbors do. Folks in the Buckeye State and all Americans need Sherrod back in the Senate because he’s the best kind of neighbor: He uses his experience as a public servant to make our experiences better. More of that, please. Thank you for hearing me out and hopefully [helping](. Alliteration accidental. My very best to you and your family, Carole [CONTRIBUTE]( Carole King is a singer-songwriter, author, and activist. Her distinctions include a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Kennedy Center Honor, and double-induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now Carole is using her platform to help elect an expanded Democratic Senate majority. And she really did write this email. This email was sent to {EMAIL}.
