I went to Johnny Appleseed Junior High (real name, by the way) in Mansfield, Ohio, with the kids of carpenters, electricians, and laborers. But then in the 1970s and 80s, corporate interests pulled out of Ohio in search of lower wages overseas, and the Mansfield middle class was gutted. I saw firsthand what happens when workers aren’t valued and powerful corporations have free reign. That’s why I believe so strongly in the Dignity of Work – the idea that hard work should pay off for everyone, no matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of work you do. On the opposite end of the spectrum is my multimillionaire GOP opponent Bernie Moreno. He doesn’t even believe in the minimum wage. And he only fights for the top 1% – no wonder he’s Donald Trump’s handpicked candidate. But Moreno is dangerous as a candidate because he's self-funding and has incredibly deep pockets. He’s already spent $4.5 million of his own money to try and buy this seat. With experts calling me one of the most vulnerable senators in the entire country and predicting this race could decide Senate control, we need to fight back now.
