# A Note from Sharice: Spring is almost here! As my team and I look toward this year’s election

# A Note from Sharice: Spring is almost here! As my team and I look toward this year’s election, I am so proud of all that we have accomplished. We have a long way to go, but I’m confident in my team in securing a win this coming November. Its supporters like you that give me hope in our future. Read on for some updates about what the team and I have been up to these past few months! Sincerely, — Sharice --------------------------------------------------------------- In February, I visited the General Motors plant in Fairfax. This plant went dark for months this past year due to the chips shortage, just as ongoing supply chain issues are driving up the costs of cars all across the country. # # We have the skills, we have the expertise, and we have the workers. We should be making more of these materials right here in America. Our local manufacturers depend on it. Late last month, I also visited Port KC, the authority dedicated to the growth of the Kansas City economy through transportation, logistics, and revitalization. # I was joined by Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri, who like me, is dedicated to growing and protecting the economy of the Kansas City area. Making more in America will help ease future supply chain issues, ensuring that Americans are impacted less by global disruptions. I also visited Johnson County Community College, which recently received a US Department of Transportation grant, giving them the ability to provide scholarships for their Commercial Driver’s License training program. This program provides essential job training, leading not only to safer roads, but also stronger supply chains! # Speaking of safer roads, infrastructure, and the DOT, in January, I had a visit with none other than Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg! We shared in the desire to invest in stronger, better infrastructure here in Kansas and across the country. I’m proud to have supported the bipartisan infrastructure law passed this past fall, which is actively bringing long-overdue infrastructure funding to Kansas. # In fact, because of this infrastructure bill, historic funding for public transit in the Kansas City area and across the state will connect more people to better job opportunities, and that’s investing in our future. This month I’ve been working on protecting the paychecks of everyday Kansans. With prices rising, I’ve introduced a temporary suspension of the federal gas tax, which will help lower the costs of gas and ease the burden of inflation. # --------------------------------------------------------------- Looking to stay engaged with Team Sharice over the course of the coming months?
