This week: hero pit bull, military reunion, and repairman's generosity [View this email in your browser]( Hey everyone, Hope your Wednesday's going great so far. Here's some extra love and smiles to help power you through! [][:smiling_face_with_3_hearts:] If it's your first time reading or a friend sent this to you, you can [subscribe here](. This Week's Top Stories [:newspaper:] SMILES [Repairman Saves Father With Newborn And Waives The Bill]( With a snowstorm looming, Jesse was feeling the pressure of his home's broken furnace, especially with his two-year-old home and a baby on the way. But instead of panicking, he decided to take immediate action. He called up Magnuson Sheet Metal to get everything fixed before his wife, Maria, returned from the hospital with their newest addition! Jesse panicked on the phone, saying "the fan’s not working, the furnace isn’t working, my wife is in the hospital, and we just had a baby yesterday!" Thankfully, Craig Aurand at Magnuson responded with patience and kindness, reassuring Jesse that the problem would be taken care of. That same morning, within an hour of the worker arriving, everything was completely repaired. The only thing left to take care of was the bill, but they were in for surprise! “I opened it up and looked at the receipt and it said, ‘no charge, take care of the new baby,’” Jesse recalled. Jesse and Maria were shocked, not sure whether to believe if it was real. They were incredibly touched by Craig's generosity and shared the story online where it circled back to the team at Magnuson Sheet Metal. The only thing they had to say was: "We didn’t do it for the PR, we just did it to be good people. That’s it. Just to be nice to these people. That’s what this is about.” [(Click here to watch the full story)]( [(Join the Facebook discussion here)]( ANIMALS [Hero Pitbull Alerts Mother Of Son Having Seizure In Bathtub]( When Ember, a lovable pit bull from Adore-A Bull Rescue, joined the Daniels family in Ohio, she immediately bonded with 10-year-old Tre. Their friendship proved priceless one fateful night when she saved his life. Tracy, Tre's mother, was abruptly woken up by an unfamiliar, low grumble sound coming from Ember. The sound was so strange it immediately grabbed her attention and she instinctively knew something was very wrong. “We were sleeping and she just sat down next to the bed and she was doing this real low grumble. It wasn’t even a growl, it was just this odd grumble.” Without thinking about it, Tracy followed Ember down the hallway and into the bathroom. When Tracy walked into the bathroom, she was met with a frightening sight: her son, Tre, partially submerged in a tub, head stretched back in the middle of a seizure. Tracy rushed him to the hospital where doctors ran tests and examined Tre's condition. Thankfully, everything seemed alright and Tre was sent home after taking some time to recover. After the incident, Libby Power from Adore-A-Bull told Local News 12: “It’s a very proud moment not only for our organization but more so for this dog that was abandoned. She was a lone puppy on the streets. She had no family, nobody to be her advocate.” Ember's heroic deeds are helping to alter the stigma against pit bulls, a breed that is often preemptively judged to be aggressive by many people. They work tirelessly to reunite retired service dogs with their handlers or find them a new home. Transport costs can be very expensive but the feeling of joy from seeing older pups reunited with those they've served alongside is more than worth every penny spent. Over three years ago, Sgt. Joe Stasio and his K9 partner Enzo served together in the Marines during their mission to Kuwait. Unfortunately, when it was time for Sgt. Stasio to return home, he was sent back without Enzo. When Enzo's retirement came around, Mission K9 Rescue insisted on sending him back home into the arms of his former handler. Mission K9 helped get Sgt. Stasio from North Carolina to Buffalo to pick up Enzo. Stasio stood there holding Enzo's old leash and a toy, hoping that Enzo still remembered him. According to Stasio, those in the military spend a lot of time together, helping them to preserve memories. However, once they leave, those memories disperse and feel distant. Enzo's reunion with his Stasio was an amazing sight. Their 3 years apart seemed like no time at all. The loyal pup jumped into sergeant Stasio’s arms as if he'd never left! With retirement on the horizon and Mission K9 Rescue's support, Enzo is ready to live out his golden years in style. Stasio imagines a life for Enzo that consists of eating tasty treats every day while cuddled up together watching their favorite shows...a perfect end of service for this good boy who has done so much for our country.
