This Week's Top Stories [:newspaper:] ANIMALS [Bernedoodle stands on hind legs to hug its little human](http://) There are few things in this world that can bring a smile to your fast as quickly as your adorable pet greeting you as you walk home through the door. Dogs, in particular, are notorious for their ecstatic greetings of pure love, each with their own unique twist to it. In the case of this Bernedoodle, he gives human-like hugs! It’s one of the cutest things to look forward to every day for this boy. As the school bus pulls up to the front of his house, he already knows what to expect and he never gets tired of it! From the house, the Bernedoodle has already begun its routine, starting by stretching its hind legs, almost as if to sprint across the yard. Only it doesn’t sprint, but instead…slowly bounces across the yard in a calm, composed manner! The boy runs up, meeting the dog halfway, and as they come close enough to hug, the Bernedoodle stands up on its hind legs and hugs the boy around the shoulders! For a few seconds, the Bernedoodle refuses to let go of its human and they enjoy each other’s presence for a few seconds of absolute bliss. Bernedoodles are amazing dogs, with the happy-go-lucky attitude of the Bernese Mountain Dog as well as Poodle intelligence. They love kids and can easily match their endless energy. However, because of how friendly they are, they may not make the best guard dogs as they might accidentally befriend intruders! [(Full video)]( ANIMALS [Dog frantically leads Dad into the forest]( In Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Kerry was out in the woods with his dog, Banjo, a German Wirehaired Pointer, when Banjo dashed urgently for the trees. “Banjo has a distinct tail whip and body movement when he’s around fresh animal scent, so when I saw him run for the trees I knew something was there…I assumed it was going to be a porcupine, bird or rabbit.” They proceeded cautiously towards the bush, suddenly seeing shifting movement in the snow. What popped up was a furry, golden head…a Golden Retriever puppy! The poor dog was terrified and clearly lost, seemingly having slept in his self-made burrow for days. Although Banjo could approach the puppy, it wouldn’t let Kerry get close at all. After calling animal control, the puppy's frantic owners were informed of the situation. The explained that their pup, Louie, vanished a few days ago from the dog park right before a snowstorm hit, making it incredibly difficult to find him. The owners were actually in the middle of carrying out a search party when they received the call from Kerry! A short while later, Louie was reunited with his owners, with a waggy butt and a very hungry stomach! [(Full video)]( ANIMALS [Husky melts hearts hugging baby sister while they sleep](http://) Who doesn’t love a good dog and baby dynamic duo? Millie the Husky and Daisy, a baby girl, are best friends and have become inseparable since they met. Millie is huge compared to Daisy, but Daisy doesn’t fear the large fluffy dog at all. Instead, she’s always giggling and laughing around Millie. Daisy’s parents think there may be a deeper, instinctual reason for their close-knit relationship though. They believe that Millie may think of herself as Daisy’s mother! Research shows that dogs are “smitten” with babies and can sense that they’re fragile, requiring protection. As dogs are protective with their pack, they’ll generally look after the most vulnerable ones. In this case, it’s Daisy! Having dogs can also be great for the child’s immune system while also raising serotonin and dopamine levels. Good thing Millie is always plopping herself right in Daisy’s lap! They love napping together, with Millie protecting Daisy even in their sleep by wrapping her paws around Daisy. It’s adorable!
