This week: jealous beluga, stand-up horse, Great Depression cash [View this email in your browser]( Hey everyone, There's been a lot of turmoil in the economy and stock markets, so hopefully nobody is looking at that! Instead, may we suggest that you read our heartwarming stories below? You'll be so much happier and intrigued, we promise! [][:smiling_face_with_3_hearts:] If it's your first time reading or a friend sent this to you, you can [subscribe here]( This Week's Top Stories [:newspaper:] ANIMALS [Is this beluga whale a human?!]( It seems jealousy isn’t restricted to only humans! There’s a beluga whale in South Korea who gets jealous whenever any of the female staff stand too close to her favorite male staffer. The beluga’s name is Tina, and whenever she gets jealous, she’ll sink down, take a gulp of water, and spray it at the person! The staff were curious if it was one-off behavior or consistent, so they ran some tests with different members of the team. Sure enough, Tina refused to give kisses to anyone but her favorite male staffer and will just huff and turn around for anyone else. This behavior started when Tina was first introduced to the aquarium. She had a difficult time adjusting which led the male staffer to give her attention and training in order to help warm her up to the environment. Eventually, this led to Tina becoming clingy and jealous! However, over time, it became necessary to help Tina fully acclimatize to her environment, let go of her attachment, and join with a different pod of beluga whales. Eventually, Tina began to warm up with the other two male whales at the zoo, even sharing a toy with them! [(Full video)]( ANIMALS [Reporter can’t keep it together as hilarious horse steals the show]( When a horse racing journalist began to shoot his segment for the day, he was interrupted by his hilarious horse guest! The horse was really trying to steal the spotlight, pulling out all the stops. He tried to cuddle by rubbing his head against the reporter’s, resting his head on top of the man’s head, and even sticking his lips next to the microphone! Throughout the entire segment, the reporter could barely keep it together, unable to stop laughing! Turns out that the reporter may have been egging the horse on. According to Equine Helper, “Studies have shown that horses express positive emotional reactions to some humans, and negative emotional reactions to others, indicating that horses are capable of developing a strong positive bond with a human…The findings indicated that horses are capable of detecting when a human is expressing and projecting positive feelings towards them and is likely to reciprocate those positive feelings.“ We imagine it’s the same type of feeling that a stand-up comedian experiences on stage. The horse commits to an action, to which the reporter responds positively to, and the horse continues to ride that wave and build on that positivity! He was really horsin’ around! [(Full video)]( SMILES [Man discovers wad of cash dating back to Great Depression in his front lawn]( If you want to hide cash, there are a number of places to do so: couch, mattress, in the walls. While a bit strange to us, sometimes people will even dig a hole and hide it in their front lawn! Rich and Suzanne Gilson were going through an excavation project in their front lawn in South Jersey when they discovered an unexpected historical treasure this past July. As they began digging, they uncovered shattered glass. Shortly after, they ran into some dense toughness, almost as if they were root balls. Upon closer examination however, they were actually burlap balls with old cash stuffed into them - $10’s and $20’s dated back to 1934, amounting to $1,000-2,000! Back then, the Great Depression was likely in full swing so you can imagine the importance and significance of this quantity of money. Adjusted for today’s dollars, this might have been approximately 20x, or $20k-40k that was buried in the front yard and…forgotten! After a little bit of digging, the Gilsons discovered that the money belonged to a man named James Dempsey, a local hardworking man and, unfortunately for storytelling purposes, not a bank robber. We can only wonder why he buried the money in the front yard!
