Feeling overwhelmed by the mountains you need to move? Imagine this scene for a moment. An unruly, wild, and forgotten garden. A space neglected for over 20 years, left to be swallowed up by time and nature. A jigsaw of chaotic elements, each one competing for dominance. It was a playground for weeds, the fence posts glued, absurdly, to the neighbour's wall. Patio slabs were thrown on top of each other, a makeshift solution to a more complex problem. It was a garden in name only, more a testament to years of ignorance and neglect. That was my garden. That was the challenge I faced. The task to restore it to its former glory was a Herculean one. Each glance at the disarray only seemed to amplify the enormity of the task. Every weed, every overgrown bush was a reminder of how much work lay ahead. And it was overwhelming. I felt buried under the weight of what needed to be done. It was then my wife, in her wisdom, offered a simple piece of advice. "Just move one pile of soil at a time." So, with a deep breath, I got into the digger. And I focused on one pile. Just one. Then, I moved onto the next one. And the next. And the one after that. By the end of the weekend, I stood back and surveyed the scene. And, to my surprise, the garden was transformed. All those insurmountable piles had been moved, one by one. Maybe you're feeling like I did looking at that garden. Your business, your projects, your tasks, all seeming too much. My advice to you is the same my wife gave to me: Just focus on one pile at a time. Do the next small thing you can. That's how mountains are moved and gardens are transformed.
