Sales isn’t #1 There's a rumour flying around that sales is king. Massive sales = massive success. But, spoiler alert, that's a load of nonsense. Here's the real deal. The king in your business empire? It's not sales, it's cash. We're talking cold, hard profit. That's the real royalty in this game. Imagine your business as a ship taking on water. Bailing out with a teacup won't stop you from sinking. And that's what it's like trying to fix a profit problem by scooping up more sales. You can hustle all you want, but if you're not making enough profit, your ship (aka your business) will still sink. Way back when, I was all about sales, too. But then, I had a bit of an "aha!" moment. I started focusing on making each sale more profitable. Suddenly, instead of sprinting to get 10 sales, I found I could make 1 sale 10x more profitable. This led to me raking in 10x the cash with a fraction (just 10%!) of the effort. Here's how I played this new hand: I pumped our prices up by 10x, and cut our deliverables in half. Risky? You bet. But after a few nail-biting months, I started to see a turnaround. More money in my pocket meant more resources to hunt down new customers. Win-win. Relying only on sales is a bit like being stuck on a treadmill—lots of huffing and puffing but not getting anywhere. But by focusing on profit, it felt like stepping onto an escalator, effortlessly cruising upwards towards success. Profit is your best friend here. It gives you the stamina to grow, helps you stay afloat during rough patches, and lets you reinvest in your business to find more customers. So, the moral of the story? Don't break your back chasing sales. Instead, go after profit. That's where your real crown is. Because in the wild, unpredictable jungle of business, cash is the one true king. P.S.
